What is the average cost of landscaping a garden in the UK? The cost will vary dramatically depending on the job. To simplify we have split this into sections. 1) Patios - having a new patio can cost anywhere between £150-400 per square meter. Things that impact this are material choice, access to the site, shape or patio, drainage required and detailed cuts to name a few. 2) Full garden makeovers - can range from £10,000 to £100,000s. Unless you have a clear vision we always recommend hiring a garden designer. They are able to help you get the most from your space and help you visualise the ideas via 3D modelling.   3) Small one off jobs such as fencing, creating flower beds, gravel areas, raised beds can range between £1000 - £5000. As you can tell it's very difficult to answer this question due to the number of variables involved! Get in touch to discuss your project and have an honest discussion about how we can fulfil your vision within your budget!

What is the difference between a gardener and a landscape gardener? Landscaper Gardeners often describe themselves as simply Landscapers as they tend to focus on creating new outdoor spaces via earth moving or build structures, patios, driveways and walls. Gardeners focus on what is called soft landscaping. A good gardener will consider themselves a plantsmen or horticulturist with a good knowledge of how to care for plants.

What materials should I use in my garden? Natural Stone vs. Porcelain for Landscaping Natural Stone Pros: Unique, timeless beauty with natural textures and patterns. Highly durable, ages gracefully with a patina. Eco-friendly with minimal processing. Cons: High cost and labour-intensive installation. Requires sealing and maintenance; prone to moss and algae in wet areas. Porous stones can crack in freezing conditions. Porcelain Pros: Cost-effective and low maintenance; resists stains, water, and weather damage. Durable against scratches and fading; lightweight for easier installation. Available in many styles, including realistic stone look-alikes. Cons: Lacks natural uniqueness; may appear artificial up close. Can chip under heavy impact; retains heat in direct sunlight. Less eco-friendly due to manufacturing processes. How to Choose Natural Stone: For an authentic, high-end aesthetic in low-moisture or freeze-resistant areas. Porcelain: For low-maintenance, durable, and budget-friendly options in moist or extreme weather conditions.

Who should you hire for the job? We feel trust is the key factor in a good working relationship. This  is built from seeing evidence of the contractors previous work and from word of mouth recommendations from trust worthy sources.

How much do landscape gardeners charge per hour in the UK? We can't speak for everyone, but we charge £28 per hour plus VAT.
